Summer Camp Staff Overview
Camp Olmsted, located in Cornwall on Hudson, New York, has been a cherished summer destination for campers aged 6 to 16 from New York City communities for over 120 years. Our wide range of activities, including swimming, ropes challenge courses, arts and crafts, kiddie’s kitchen, dance, theater, and sports, provide a dynamic and enriching experience for our campers.
We are currently seeking dedicated service driven individuals to join our team in various positions for the upcoming summer program. This is an incredible opportunity to make a positive impact on children's lives while enjoying a rewarding and memorable summer experience.
Please note that all candidates must be willing and able to work on the camp premises for the entire eight weeks of camp, including the Staff Training period.
Dates:

Staff Orientation Weekend: June 12th - June 13th

Leadership Week (Supervisory Staff Only): June 15 - June 19, 2026

Staff Training (All Staff): June 22 - June 26, 2026

Camp Dates: June 29 - August 7, 2026
Qualifications:

Must be at minimum 17 years old for Day Staff and 18 Years Old for Overnight Staff

Genuine interest in working with children.

Service heart, Fun-spirited, and patient.

Available Positions
Aquatics Coordinator & Swim Instructor
-
Supervisory Role- Reporting to Senior Leadership with concise and direct communication.

Supervise Lifeguard Team and Pool Schedule
-
Maintains order and safety in swimming areas and assists in enforcing pool policies.
-
Ensures and provides a safe, healthy & clean pool environment at all times.
-
Consistent and vigilant monitoring of the pool is required.
-
Responds quickly, efficiently, and professionally to any emergency.
Swim Instructor & Lifeguard
-
Maintains order and safety in swimming areas and assists in enforcing pool policies.

Ensures and provides a safe, healthy & clean pool environment at all times.

Consistent and vigilant monitoring of the pool is required.

Responds quickly, efficiently, and professionally to any emergency.

Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all pool rules and regulations and can enforce these regulations.
Activity Leader

Lead groups of campers in various specialized activities

Seeking individuals with experience leading recreational (sports), arts & crafts, performing arts, STEAM, and cooking or baking.

Foster a positive and engaging environment for campers.

Create and or collaborate on activity curriculum.

Ensure safety and enjoyment during activity sessions.
