SCOPE Scholarship Program

Making Camp Possible. Changing Lives.

At Camp Olmsted, a ministry of Five Points Mission, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to experience summer camp — to grow in confidence, build friendships, and create life-shaping memories.

We are proud to partner with SCOPE (Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education) to provide need-based camp scholarships to qualifying families.

The SCOPE Scholarship helps remove financial barriers so that children from underserved communities can attend accredited summer camps like Camp Olmsted.

Who Is Eligible for SCOPE?

To qualify for a SCOPE Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be 7–16 years old

  • Be currently enrolled in school

  • Meet family income requirements established by the USDA for Free or Reduced-Price School Lunch

  • Complete a short application essay

  • Commit to staying in school

  • Submit a thank-you letter to SCOPE or its community partner if awarded

Financial Eligibility Requirements

Families must provide verification of income eligibility through ONE of the following:

  • Letter from school or referring agency verifying qualification for the USDA Free or Reduced Lunch Program

  • Copy of Public Assistance Benefit Card or award letter (SSI, SNAP/Food Stamps, Medicaid) showing eligibility dates

  • Copy of 2025 Federal Tax Return

  • Completed 2026 USDA Free or Reduced Lunch Application signed by parent and reviewing official

School Enrollment Verification

Families must also provide ONE of the following:

  • Copy of the student’s 2025–2026 report card (showing student name, school name, and year)

  • Letter from school on official letterhead verifying enrollment

Additional Financial Assistance Through Five Points Mission

We understand that some families may be just outside of SCOPE’s eligibility requirements but still need financial assistance.

Because of this, Five Points Mission (Camp Olmsted) also offers an internal need-based scholarship program to help offset camp costs for families experiencing financial hardship.

  • This scholarship is available to families who may not qualify for SCOPE but demonstrate financial need.

  • The application process is the same as the SCOPE scholarship process.

  • The scholarship application is presented during the camper registration process.

Our goal is simple:
If a child wants to come to camp, we will do everything we reasonably can to make it possible.

Important Notes

  • Camp Olmsted maintains full accreditation standards through the American Camp Association.

  • Families awarded a SCOPE scholarship will not be charged non-refundable fees.

  • All required eligibility documentation must be submitted for scholarship validation.

  • Required documentation for SCOPE recipients must be submitted by August 25, 2026.

How to Apply

Scholarship applications are completed as part of the camper registration process.
